Pest Control Records

Circuitcism EP

£3.50

Kicking off the label in fine style, Pest Control proudly present the 'Circuitcism EP', the debut release from Tokyo Knife Attack.
Having already recorded under the name Ditone, which spawned the fantastic 'Generic Signal EP' on Fancy & Spook's Heatray label in 2006, we are now treated to the futuristic laser-funk of TKA. With influences ranging from synth-pop and new wave acts such as Human League and Devo, through early electro and hip-hop including Break Machine and Mantronix, to modern electronic sounds spanning the entire spectrum, from Chromeo to Drexciya, the thing that ties it all together is pure, unadulterated funk, in synthetic form.
Comprising four expertly crafted tracks, with a strong focus on the dancefloor, the EP galavants through interstellar electro-funk, italo-tinged vocoder workouts, and Detroit-edged throwdowns that marry the disco throb of Giorgio Moroder with the synth-soaked soul of early UR releases. An excellent introduction to a label with a wealth of new talent, backed up by a laudable roster of established remixers and artists.
